Anne Redfearn was Chattox's daughter, the head of one of the two unfortunate families accused of Witchcraft in England 1600'. She confessed to witchcraft and was hanged in Lancaster in 1612.
Chubby Anne is dressed in the spirit of the time, there is plenty of detail in her elaborate outfit such as the burgundy velvet blouse with specks of silver, a large skirt made of what appears to be remnants boarded with a wide pink lace trimming and lots of burgundy velvet buttons.
Of course the hat matches the trousers in stripy taffeta and the satin burgundy shoes. What a riot of fabrics and trimmings!
She’s got a beautiful smile on her face – all highly detailed in porcelain.
And not to spoil it all, she holds her broomstick like a lady.
All in all, a beautiful porcelain creation, from our Witches of Pendle range, of high detail recommended for the collector and enthusiast alike. Collectables are not just for Halloween, but for every season in between!
Anne Redfearn, the witch doll, measures 24 cm long and can be hang of a transparent thread which is attached to the hat. The witch has a complimentary copy of the Trial and History of the Witches of Pendle attached.
