| I bought this as a gift for my son. It is another beautifully produced piece of jewellery from higherheart. It is beautifully crafted with the design being carried over on both sides of the piece plus is has a nice weighty feel to it - as Thors hammer should be! A very very nice little pendant to wear around your neck. |

Represented in this Mjolnir Thor Hammer Pendant is Thor, the powerful Scandinavian God of thunder. Red haired and bearded, he is the god of the common man, often siding with mortals against other gods. Thor was an outright hero for mankind, powerfully defeating his enemies. He fought against the giants, and defeated them with it's weapon - the hammer called Mjolnir. The hammer had special properties as, when thrown at an enemy, returned magically to Thor. To wield this formidable weapon, Thor needed special iron gloves and a belt that doubled the wearer's strength. The strike of the hammer caused thunderclaps, and indeed, the name of this deity has produced the word for thunder in Germanic languages.
In the past, Thor's hammer was worn by believers as a symbol of protection, whereas in modern times it represents a symbol of Norse heritage and it worn for Courage, Strength and Success.
