This sterling silver Azurite Phoenix Pendant is a beautiful creation, the movement of the wings being captured in fine detail. The wings are inlaid with azurite and the Phoenix’s body is covered in highly detailed plumes.
The Phoenix is best known from Egyptian mythology, as a bird of beautiful gold and red plumage, who lives a very long life. At the end of its life, the Phoenix builds a nest of cinnamon twigs which then ignites; the nest and the bird burn fiercely and are reduced to ashes, from which a new Phoenix will arise, thus it is represented as self-generating and called ‘the soul of Ra’.
