Extremely beautiful Nepal Singing Bowl in a coppery brown finish with etched designs, depicting on the sides the eight auspicious symbols of good fortune:
- The parasol symbol of protection against desire, hate, greed and ignorance - The golden fish symbol of the liberation of the spirit from the ocean of samsara - The urn symbol of spiritual wealth - The lotus flower symbol of purity of mind - The clockwise-spiraled conch shell symbol of the glory of the teachings of Buddha - The infinite knot symbol of all things being connected and therefore independent of cause and effect - The flag symbol for the victory of Buddhist teachings over ignorance - The wheel symbol of ethical discipline
The underside of the bowl is decorated with the Flag of Victory symbol for the victory of Buddhist teachings over ignorance.
The inside of the bowl is decorated with five relief Buddhas, in standing postures, each one of them in a different symbolic position with one or both hands signifying a certain energy or action, which are surrounded by a patterned circular design depicting the Mantra OM MANI PADME HUM, which is one of the most used mantras. The mantra can be translated as The Jewel in the Heart of the Lotus and its sound is supposed to ring throughout the universe, telling of the victorius power of the freedom that is to save all beings.
The sound of each Nepal Singing Bowl is unique. Its uniqueness comes from its thickness, shape, size, combination of metals and the particular technique of the craftsmen.
Some Nepal Singing Bowls have a strong single tone, whereas others produce a rich combination of several harmonics and overtones. Personal preference will suggest the right one for you.
A suggested way for choosing a Nepal Singing Bowl is by the note the bowl plays. Notes are associated with chakras, as follows:
Base (Root) Chakra C The Sacral (Spleen) Chakra D The Solar Plexus Chakra E The Heart Chakra F The Throat Chakra G The Third Eye Chakra A The Crown Chakra B
This bowl plays a primary note C (Base (Root) Chakra) sharp 4 (octave). Due to the 3mm thickness, we found this bowl to play a warm, crystal, deep, low tune, it is highly resonant and easy to play.
Weight approx. 3134g, diameter 240 mm height 120mm.
As choosing a singing bowl is down to personal preferences, we have included a sound file. The sound files were produced using a simple wood stick.
