This extremely beautiful incense holder has a dark copper finish with etched designs.
The design includes one of the best known mantras "Om Mani Padme Hum", a sound that is supposed to ring throughout the universe, and is often translated as "jewel in the lotus".
Also depicted are the the eight auspicious symbols of good fortune:
- The parasol – symbol of protection against desire, hate, greed and ignorance
- The golden fish – symbol of the liberation of the spirit from the ocean of samsara
- The urn – symbol of spiritual wealth
- The lotus flower – symbol of purity of mind
- The clockwise-spiralled conch shell – symbol of the glory of the teachings of Buddha
- The infinite knot – symbol of all things being connected and therefore independent of cause and effect
- The flag – symbol for the victory of Buddhist teachings over ignorance
- The wheel – symbol of ethical discipline
